Dua Lipa, an English artist and singer was born in London on 22 August 1995. In 2014, following a career as a model and actress, she signed with Warner Bros Records. She dropped her self-titled debut album in 2017. It peaked in at the number three spot in the U.K. charts for albums and featured eight singles including the U.K. number one song New Rules and Be the One I.D.G.A.F. Lipa was awarded the Brit Awards in 2018 as a British Female Solo Artist, and British Breakthrough Act, and her album has been certified platinum in several countries worldwide. Dua Lipa was conceived in London in the UK by Kosovo Albanian parents Anesa rexha (mother) and Dukagjin Lilipa (father). She has Bosnian ancestry through her grandmother. It is also possible to trace her ancestry to Peja within Kosovo. Lipa's two grandfathers both were historians. She has two siblings, Rina and Gjin. Her musical inspirations come from her father who was the lead singer and guitarist of the Kosovan Rock band Oda. In the family, her father would continue to play music including his music and compositions, as well as songs of David Bowie Bob Dylan Radiohead Sting The Police and Stereophonics. Lipa started singing at the age of five. She started singing during her school, the Sylvia Young Theater School when she was just nine years older. Lipa sang Beautiful, by Christina Aguilera as well as If Ain't Got You from Alicia Keys. In 2014, Lipa has signed a deal with Warner Bros. Records. Her debut single New Love was released in August of 2015.
